WSOP Online Series 2022 – Week 5
The start and finish of the penultimate week of the 3rd annual World Series of Poker Online (WSOP-O), hosted by GGPoker; the world’s most prestigious poker tournament at the world’s biggest poker room has been completed. Last week, we had you looking forward to a combination of bounty and double stack tournaments with a range of buy-ins for any bankroll. This week, it’s even better. Tournaments ranging between $400 and $5,000 buy-ins encompassing Short Deck, Bounties and Freezeouts all leading up to the golden centerpiece of the World Series of Poker, the WSOP Online MAIN EVENT.
The final 6 bracelets are scheduled through the week along with $20 million guaranteed for the Main Event. Four WSOP bracelet events to look at the results and two that are part way to completion. The World Series of Poker Online Championship is slowly winding down but we still have some major events and excitement to play through before we are done.
WSOP Bracelet Events
Last week we left with just 14 players left in Event # 22: WSOP GGMasters HR Freezeout NLH. The chip leaders at the time, ‘O O L’ and ‘Zuko’, both made the final table but were not able to claim the coveted World Series of Poker bracelet finishing 2nd, worth $216,347.89, and 3rd, worth $162,238.14, respectively. At the end of the poker tournament it was ‘St@edtLer’ winning the championship and earning $288,507.11 and the bracelet.
The final day of Event #23: PLOSSUS Bounty event took nearly 7.25 hours to complete. The twenty Day 1’s saw a total of 3,850 entrants join to win this championship of which just 424 survived to play on the final day. This $1 Million guarantee for this poker tournament was easily exceeded from the $400 buy-in which created a total prize pool of $1,463,000. When the last hand of the poker tournament was dealt, it was ‘Jose Castillo’ defeating ‘Drawing Live’ to win the WSOP Online Championship bracelet, $54,500.07 for top spot in the tournament and $89,786.45 in collected bounty prizes.
The next poker tournament on the schedule was Event #24: Bounty NLH Championship. This $2,100 buy-in progressive bounty tournament attracted 985 players creating a total prize pool of $1,970,000, half of which was allocated to player bounties. It took almost 4.5 hours on the second day of play for this championship to be decided. When it was finally completed, ‘WouldIlieToYOU’ earned $135,682.86 for a second place finish falling to the aptly named ‘Winner51’ who earned $171,121.77 and a World Series of Poker bracelet’.
Thursday September 15 saw the low $315 buy-in Event #25: Superstack Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em start. One of the shortest events on the WSOP Online schedule, this bracelet event took less than 9 hours to complete. When buy-ins and late registrations were complete, 3,015 players put up the money to compete for the championship that only 1 would be able to claim. When the final hand played out, ‘Be_LegendarY’ took the top prize of $75,619.96, including $39,019.68 in bounties, defeating ‘wnbgambb’ who earned $45,875.48 for second place.
The Weekend
This past weekend offered 2 bracelet events, events #26 and #27. Saturday saw Event #26: DOUBLE CHANCE NLH [2-Stack] begin. The $600 buy-in event attracted 1,777 players and created a total prize pool of $1,012,890 for this second chance event. ‘Zhoa Zi Long’, who missed out on a bracelet in event #19, once again made a final table but failed to capture the bracelet. The eventual winner of this event was ‘Jans Arends’ who earned $129,745.26 for victory along with the World Series of Poker Championship bracelet.
Sunday’s big event, and the big poker tournament for the weekend was Event #27. A $1,500 buy-in tournament, the FIFTY STACK put just under half of each buy-in into the progressive bounty while the balance of the total $2,275,725 prize pool was set aside for the top 224 players. A total of 1,597 players entered the event which played until level 30. The remaining 35 players, who are guaranteed a minimum of $4,814,47 each, will continue the battle for the championship and largest share of the prize pool at 18:00 UTC today.
COLOSSUS
Last week saw the running of the PLOSSUS, this week it was the COLOSSUS. Event #28: COLOSSUS was a $400 buy-in tournament with 20 Day 1’s to choose from. With the last of the Day 1’s completed, a total of 10,090 players participated in this monstrous event, creating a total prize pool of $3,793,840, well over the $3 Million guaranteed for this event. The official start of the final day for this event is Monday September 19 at 18:00 UTC and it will take an estimated 10 hours to decide who will receive the World Series of Poker bracelet and the top prize of $378,507.69.
Upcoming Events
Once the Colossus finishes we can turn our faces forward to the remainder of the last week of action at the 3rd World Series of Poker Online championships. Five bracelet events remain on the schedule with the world record holding Main Event waiting at the end. The first of the poker tournaments is Event #29: Short Deck Championship. This $5,000 3-stack event is scheduled for September 20 with direct entry, guaranteed seat satellites starting at $525. Next on the schedule is Event #30: 6-Handed Bounty No-Limit Hold’em. Scheduled to begin Thursday September 22, this $840 buy-in progressive bounty event has multi-seat guarantee satellite tournaments starting as low as $10.
The week concludes with 2 bracelet events, one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. Saturday plays host to Event #31: $1,050 Beat the Pros Bounty Freezeout and on Sunday Event #32: $400 The Closer NLH. While none of these tournaments offer guarantees, they all have a World Series of Poker bracelet waiting for the winner. Multiple satellites, both step satellites and direct satellites, are running for all of these events and available around your schedule. The Main Event
The final event of The World Series of Poker Online is the Main Event. In 2020, this event, hosted by GGPoker, set a Guinness World Record for the largest prize pool in an online poker tournament. This year we want to set a new record. Day 2 for the Main Event is scheduled for Monday September 26 and there are still 4 Day 1’s scheduled to run. In addition to the World Series of Poker Online Poker Tournament Championship bracelet, GGPoker is guaranteeing a $20,000,000 prize pool.
