Introducing Vanessa Kade

Another amazing poker player joins the ranks of the ever-growing GGPoker Twitch legion. Long-time cash game killer Vanessa is from that snowy Northern land of politeness and maple trees that we call Canada. As well as her successful poker streaming career, Vanessa has spent time in other industries close to our own, as a producer for both BioWare (Yes, THE BioWare), Lucas Arts and Disney.

If her Twitch page is anything to go by, there’ll be good times on the regs. Bright striking primary colours, a pink pop tart nyan-cat tearing across a black background with a jetstream of rainbow glitter in his wake, Harry Potter references and more!

Vanessa will be hosting a weekly $100 freeroll on GGPoker with lots of cool rewards. This includes a bounty offer where if you knock Vanessa from the game, your player name is included in next week’s tournament title. Channel your inner Boba Fett. Channel your inner Porg – whatever it takes!

If you’re new to GGPoker you can sign up through Vanessa’s affiliate link to get rewards before you’ve even started playing.

The third man

It would be remiss not to mention the third party in this deal; Cero the stream cat. Cero longs for the crunchy hot (or cold, you raw poptart eating sickos) snap of a pop tart but unfortunately he’s diabetic. You can see Cero lounging in the background and hounding Vanessa for roast chicken treats during the week on stream. Me like human food now, thanks.

Between February 22nd through 25th Vanessa will be playing in our Mini-Mega event series with a bounty on her head! Saddle up and collect your perp – knock Vanessa out in any of these micro-stakes games and get a free $2.10 Bounty Hunter ticket.

Introducing ShroomTheRiver

Make room for Shroom in your schedule

Another person joins the ranks of the GGPoker Twitch legion – Introducing ShroomTheRiver. George is 26 and has lived in London for many years, plying his poker trade for the best part of a decade. His goals for the coming year are to improve his stream as viewership grows and develop the mental side of his game, whether that means working on his mean mug in a bathroom mirror or taking meticulous player notes at the tables.

As well as his long-term interest in poker, George also plays and occasionally streams League of Legends on Twitch as Teemo the swift scout.

You can expect lots of fun on this stream as George is a natural chatter blessed with the Gift of the Gab and a certified Archbishop of Banterbury. If you like some easy chat with your poker action, this might be the stream for you. You’ll be able to watch Shroom multiple times a week streaming GGPoker playing $10-$50NLz.

Use the sign-up code Shroom during registry and receive rewards before you’ve opened a table.

Introducing Twitch Streamer WowPoker

Introducing Shane ‘WowPoker’ Ball – our resident American and current Eastern correspondent, crushing GGPoker cash-tables on Twitch from his current residence in Japan.

Shane started playing poker in 2004 shortly after graduating high-school, soon leaving behind the family-friendly poker games hosted by his parents for more lucrative pastures. Like the scholars before him who would journey to Irish monasteries in the early Medieval period to study art, culture, law and other esoteric practices, Shane got stuck into the books.

It wasn’t long before his winning ways brought him to online poker. As is often the case with beginner’s luck, or people who initially rely on natural talent to get by, it’s easy to miss learning the rudiments. Shane soon understood the importance of bankroll management, which is the first step towards becoming a stolid professional.

After having some sweet rolls around various poker rooms, including one $45,000 jackpot win slotting in second place for the largest score in his career, Shane switched to cash games.

Finally after several years perfecting his craft as a pro, Shane moved to Japan teaching English at a university, a profession which affords him ample free time to chase his dream and chat with other like-minded poker aficionados in the stream chat.

Omaha Cheat Sheet

As we’re crazy for all things Omaha this May, we’ve put together a helpful cheat sheet to help players who mightn’t be familiar with this exciting poker variant. You can also read more about Omaha and how it’s played on the Poker School section of the GGPoker website.

Omaha and Hold’em are the most popular poker variants by a long shot – here’s a quick rundown of the main differences between the two:

    • Just like in Texas Hold’em, there are four betting rounds during a hand of Omaha: pre-flop, the-flop, the turn and the river.
    • In Omaha, four hole cards are dealt to each player instead of two.
    • Players must make the best possible hand using exactly two of their hole cards and three from the five community cards (unlike in Hold’em, where you can use one hole card and four board cards to make the best possible hand)
    • The maximum bet a player can bet in Pot Limit Omaha (the most popular form of Omaha poker) is the amount that’s in the pot. For example, a $100 bet is the biggest can be made into a $100 pot.

If you’re interest in reading further into this exciting variant check out the GGPoker site, which includes poker school, the rules of poker and a comprehensive list defining the most common poker terminology.

Along with the $200K Omaha Festival, we’ve another offer for players who can pull a win out of the bag when they go all-in with the worse hand. To take part in our Omaha Underdog social media promotion, submit a hand moment to our Twitter or Facebook showing you going all-in where you’re behind but then go on to outdraw your opponent to win the hand. Your image must show any GGPoker Omaha table. We’ll choose the best submissions and award the winners a tasty $10 ticket package.

We’ll see you at the Omaha Tables

Deal or no deal

Presenting June’s Featured Feature:

Grinding to the end of long tournaments is heaven for some, the essence of the game, and drudgery for others. We’ve all been there at the final table of a gruelling tourney session, anxiously checking how long since bedtime after every hand. Look no further; deal making is an convenient way to divvy up the remaining pool at a static final table.

Deals can only be made once seat selection is complete, and not before the final table. A prompt will appear showing all remaining entrants the percentage amount and figure of the prize pool owed with relation to their current chipstack. Once players agree to a deal, the prize pool is credited instantly. At which point, players can opt to close the app or continue to the game’s end for Tournament Leaderboard purposes.

Recently our popular Daily Main Event tournaments have ended with lucrative deals for each participant. Curious to see this feature in action? Catch the most exciting GGPoker games and all the hottest plays at our daily Featured Tables.

Mini-Mega Rumble – what went down

The wall of fallen heroes stands thusly:

WowPoker RIP

Scrimitzu RIP

ShroomtheRiver RIP

We commit you to the soil, our hearts firm knowing you’ve reached Valhalla, where never-ending games of poker are played, where cavernous mead halls echo with the clacking of chipstacks and the bristle of dealt cards. This isn’t over. You will all be back.

Meanwhile, IrEgption and Vanessa Kade watch from the shadows, appraising, waiting for their moment in the next Rumble – watch this space…

We have a winner

One of team GGPoker finally emerged victorious – Alyssa MacDonald cut down all comers, showing her nasty side and taking down fellow partner and all-around buzzlord ShroomtheRiver. Alyssa claimed the last-longer Team GGPoker prize to nab a $1000 package. Alyssa also graciously gifted her bounty bonus to the unlucky player who went out on the bubble – a wise warrior makes friendly with opponents.

Now the dust settles, the warriors return to peace. For now.

BUT… there was one who beat ALL of Team GGPoker and came first. All glory to *TenEggGuy* for first place – you’re truly the greatest this time around, and you have our respect!
