The Battle of Malta – Week 2

We are on day 8 of the siege. Ground is being won as quickly as it is being lost. Thousands have come out to join the battle as we clash for millions in gold and championship crowns. These past 3 days have been grueling. Multiple skirmishes at all hours of the day. There is no rest but our resolve is strong. We will be victorious in these bouts as we watch the cards fall, just one time, in our favor. It is almost time to take to the tables, but before we prepare for another exciting week in the Battle of Malta, let us review what happened over this past weekend. 

From Friday morning through Sunday evening, the Battle of Malta online poker series ran 2 Main Events, 35 Side events, dozens of Daily tournaments and daily guaranteed packages to the live Battle of Malta Main Event. All this while the knights of GGPoker battle for one of the 25 seats on the Battle of Malta leaderboard. There was over €5,000,000 offered in guarantees this past Sunday weekend through the 35 tournaments and while we would love to review each of them we just can’t. #5: Tallinn Summer Showdown

The first of the main events in the Battle of Malta this weekend was Saturday’s €55 buy-in Tallinn Summer Showdown. This tournament offered a €100,000 guarantee, enough to attract 2,235 players, creating a total prize pool of €113,091. This event lasted over 8 hours before ‘hmhm’ was able to lay claim to the €14,291.86 top prize and the victory over ‘Wherismyluck’.

#6: Kings of Tallinn Main Event

After 5 long hard fought battles, it was time to declare a king. Main event #6: Kings of Tallinn was a €220 buy-in NLHE tournament with a €400,000 guarantee. All the knights wanted glory in this event which attracted 2,494 players, creating a prize pool of €504,785.60.  It took over 9.5 hours for this battle to come to a close and in the end it was ‘jaywu1111’ who defeated ‘TwoBeatSix’ for the victory and top prize of ‘€65,456.80.

#7: Global MILLION$ European Cup

The first of the €1,000,000 Battle of Malta Online Main Events, Event #7: Global MILLION$ European Cup ran its final day on Sunday. The €50 buy-in for this tournament Day 1’s was so attractive that when late registration closed, 20,842 entries had been paid for the event. Of the almost 21,000 entries from the multiple Day 1′s, 2,927 players survived and for this tournament had been running multiple times every day since the launch of the online poker tournament series. By the time the last of the Day 1’s completed, there had been 20,842 players pay the entry to compete in this tournament. The 20,842 players had been whittled down to just 2,927 of which it was only the top 2,200 that got paid. At the end of the 6.75 hours it took to play the final day, it was ‘LLinusLvoe’ who defeated ‘Andrejs Kovalovs’ for the title and €83,479.51. 

Heading to Malta

In addition to all of the exciting tournament action from the weekend, so of which is highlighted above, was the multiple tournaments with guaranteed packages to the Live Battle of Malta Main Event. This live tournament series offers some of the best mid-stakes live tournament action in Europe. Taking place in October on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta, where the original Battle of Malta occurred, the Main Event is offering a €1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and GGPoker is hosting daily satellite tournaments to the event. As of writing this, a total of 132 players have qualified for the Live Main Event seats, including 36 players who have won a seat and stay in a 5-star hotel for the duration of the tournament.
